In the framework of the PANAME initiative, a dense atmospheric boundary layer measurement network is being established in the Paris region, combining different types of ground-based remote sensing instrumentation, including automatic lidars and ceilometers (ALC), Doppler wind lidars and microwave radiometers at multiple sites along the rural-urban transect.
- Three supersites are equipped with Doppler wind lidar profilers and microwave radiometers that capture the vertical profile of 3D wind and turbulence and air temperature, respectively. These include two suburban measurements sites: the SIRTA observatory in the Southwest of Paris and the Roissy Charles de Gaulle airport in the Northeast of Paris. In the city centre, supersites include QUALAIR-SU and LISA-PRG.
- In addition to the ALC network analysis by the Paris ABL testbed, other lidar systems were operated in the Region in 2023 by the ERC Synergy project URBISPHERE.
